Binnacle Hill Residence was designed for, and built by, a top-notch general contractor and his young family in Southern Maine. The project is situated within a neighborhood in Kennebunkport developed by the same contractor. This neighborhood uniquely offers ample wooded lots proximate to town beaches.

Landscape Architect Soren Deniord participated in the initial site planning in order to artfully weave the natural environment into the build. For instance, a large ledge outcropping was chosen to inform the location of the entry. The wooded lot was then carved to demarcate the southern supervised play yard and solar corridor.

The courtyard shaped plan enables an expansive first floor all with visual proximity through a fern garden. The home includes an oversized garage with a playroom and guest suite above, a two-story bedroom wing oriented to the morning sun in the east, and a connecting sun filled south wing for the kitchen, dining, and living room with an attached screened porch.

Interior designer Krista Stokes designed the layered interior with bold selections, including a tinted green polished concrete floor, a deep blue primary suite, and artful fixtures.
